The TUSA RS-790 regulator is a high-quality regulator designed specifically for scuba diving. Its first stage regulator is made of marine brass that is chrome plated, and its design is a balanced diaphragm that is environmentally sealed. This means that the internal mechanism is protected from contamination from external elements such as salt, sand, chlorine, or pool acids that can corrode and deteriorate regulator performance.To further enhance the regulator's performance, TUSA has added a dry ambient pressure chamber to prevent water from entering the main spring cavity. This chamber maximizes the regulator's performance in cold water diving conditions below 50 Degree F (10 Degree C). Additionally, the outside of the chamber is ribbed, which increases the surface area and acts like a radiator to transfer heat further, reducing the problems associated with cold water diving.The first stage has four low-pressure ports and two high-pressure ports, with the high flow low-pressure ports positioned near the diaphragm, which increases airflow by up to 15%.The second stage is pneumatically balanced, with a small chamber that traps air and forces the poppet back against the intermediate pressure orifice, providing smooth breathing in all conditions.
